Well the worlds toughest mudder course got the best of me and the majority of the 800 that participated. I did the equivalent of a regular tough mudder with more and harder obstacles in colder weather. I went about 10 miles and 26 obstacles before making the difficult decision of giving in as the onset of hypothermia and frostbite started setting in. God granted me the strength to get as far as I could and the wisdom in which to stop. Others were not so lucky as when I was brought back to the medical tent I saw over 20 people in full hypothermia blankets shaking like I've never seen. The sound of ambulances was just about all you could here in the distance after the first hour and the guys who gave me a ride said they picked up at least 70 people before me.
Although physically I could have compled the course of 13 miles and 40 grueling obstacles, I was in adequately prepared for the freezing temperatures.
There was also a young kid from California who I met at the start who somehow managed to get into this event although he had never done a tough mudder before and this was the toughest. Where he comes from the coldest it gets is 60 degrees and here we were 35-40 degrees. I decided to do the tough mudder thing and help him out the whole way keeping him warm. He was ready to give up after a few obstacles but I pushed him to about 23. Then he just couldn't do it any longer. Even though staying with him meant I wouldn't complete a lap on my own I felt it was the right thing to do to look after him.
I pray for the people who stayed overnight although I highly doubt anyone did any racing while it was dark as it dropped to about 20 degrees and the entire time was windy as well. I now have a new strategy for the next worlds toughest and I am confident it will get me at least one lap.

50 years
At church today, we buried a time capsule that will be opened in 50 years. Including the wedding song I wrote for our first dance on a cd. I wonder if they can play it in 50 years?
